HIP HOP PROGRAM

Hip Hop

Kidzact specializes in the popular hip hop style of dance. Hip hop dane is a dynamic and energetic dance style that originated as port of the broader hip hop culture in the Bronx, New York City, during the 1970's. It is characterized by its emphasis on rhythm, freestyle movement and the expression of individuality. Hip hop dance encompasses a wide range of street dance styles, including breaking, popping, locking and cramping, each with its own unique set of techniques and cultural significance. Hip hop dance continues to evolve, with new styles and trends emerging regularly, but it remains a powerful and accessible form of dance that celebrates individuality, creativity and the spirit of the community.

The hip hop classes are divided into various levels to accommodate dancers interest and ability levels:

Beginner (10-Week Session)

Beginner (10-week sessions)

These classes are for dancers new to the hip hop style. Dancers will participate in 1-hour of practice per week (on Saturdays) for 10 weeks. There are 2 sessions per year: 1 in the fall and 1 in the winter. At the end of the session they will perform at a recital.

Streetkidz

Streetkidz Crews

Dancers invited into Streetkidz will be placed in groups based on their age. They will practice 1-hour per week (on Tuesdays) from September-June. Streetkidz groups attend 1 competition in the spring and perform in our year-end show. We are often asked to perform in off season local festivals which provide a great opportunity for the dancers to showcase their talent.

Performance Crews

Performance Crews

Dancers must audition to moe into the Performance Program. The focus of this program is to refine dane and stage performance skills. Dancers chosen for these groups are expected to practice and perform at a higher level. These groups practice 3 hours each week, attend 2 competitions per year and attendance is mandatory.

Competition Crews

Competition Crews

Dancers must audition to move into the Competitive program. The training if very rigorous and is suitable for dancers who want to focus their energy on high levels of dance and performance. These students work with a professional choreographer. Dancers chosen for these groups train with L.A. choreographer Scotty Nguyen. They practice 3-6 hours per week, attend 5(+) competitions a year and attendance is mandatory.

Competitive Acro dancers must meet advanced skill requirements and audition for a spot on the team. The Acro teams practice an additional 2 hours on top of their regular tumbling class, attend 2 competitions per year, and perform at our annual recital.
